Mr. Elmer Leon Oder, Sr., age 72, ofVevay, Indiana entered this life on March 23, 1938 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the son of the late, John Breckinridge & Florence Loretta Taylor Oder. He was raised in Cinncinnati and attended school there. He was united in marriage on Feb. 23, 1957 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana to Carol Kathleen Piotroski. This union was blessed with two sons and two daughters to bless their home. He had worked as a chief of security for Western & Southern Life Insurance Company in Cincinnati for several years. He moved to Switzerland County in 1985 and was employed with 9-West Group from 1989 until it closed as a cement sockliner & rougher. He was a faithful member of the Most Sorrowful Mother of God Catholic Church in Vevay. He was a devoted husband, father & grandpa. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, farming, playing the guitar and being a scout leader. Elmer died Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 11:47 am at University Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Elmer will be lovingly remembered by his wife: Carol Kathleen Piotroski Oder of Vevay, Indiana; his son: Douglas Lee Oder & his wife, Pat of Cincinnati, Ohio; his daughters: Michele Ann Wuebbling & her husband, Tom of Cincinnati, Ohio, Cherie Lynn Schoonover of Vevay, Indiana; his adopted son: Charlie Pence & his wife, Marsha of Sparta, Kentucky; his sister: Phyllis Oder Finley of Cincinnati, Ohio; his sister in law: Shirley Oder of Cincinnati, Ohio; his grandchildren, his great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews & other relatives; his son in law: Tim Schoonover of Vevay, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Breckinridge & Florence Loretta Taylor Oder; his son, Elmer Leon Oder, Jr. died, May 7, 2007; his brothers, Johnny, Bobby, Billy, Lester, Earl & Paul "Buddy" Oder; his sisters, Jeannie Moeller & Patricia Gregory.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 1:30 p.m., by Father John A. Meyer, at the Most Sorrowful Mother of God, North Ferry Street in Vevay Indiana . Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
Friends may call Saturday from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street in Vevay, Indiana.
